 about the project

In 2008 Asist was successful in gaining funding from Stoke City Council and Stoke PCT to establish a new BME Advocacy Project in North Staffordshire .  The objective of the project is to raise the number of people from the BME community accessing independent advocacy services to a level representative of the culturally diverse population of Stoke-on-Trent .

The BME Advocates deliver issue based, one-to-one advocacy support for adult members of the Black, Minority and Ethnic (BME) Community who have Learning Disability, Physical Disability and/or Mental Health Issues.

The project currently employs 1 full time and 2 part time advocates based in Asist’s Stoke office.
