Reach Group Advocacy
In 2000, Asist launched a semi-autonomous project in Stoke-on-Trent called REACH to support self advocacy amongst groups of people with a learning disability. REACH Project Workers work with communities of people wirh a learning disablity to elect local representatives who come together to form a REACH Parliament. In 2010, REACH received funding to expand the project creating a REACH Parliament for Staffordshire. The REACH Parliaments work with the local Learning Disability Partnership Boards to ensure people with a learning disability are represented at a decision making level.
